Navel piercings

I got a few navel piercings in December, and the one on the bottom won't heal! It's been almost 4 months, and sometimes it gets gooey and bleeds! The ones on the top seem to be doing fine, but the one in the bottom gets knocked into by the top ones sometimes.

Is there anything I can do to speed the healing so that the bottom one doesn't reject? I've been soaking in salt water, but it dries the skin out sooo much. Today I put some Vitamin E oil in there and hopefully that will help.

I've never had any problems with body piercings on any other part of my body.

Making piercing jewelry "permanent"

I am intrigued by the idea of making jewelry "permanent" or impossible to remove without extreme measures. I have discussed it with other pierced people and all agree that the idea is a real turn-on. But I am very concerned about the potentially disastrous consequences it might cause in the event of various sorts of medical emergencies.

Anyone have any thoughts?

microdermals in california/oregon?

hello! i know there's already a recent post on dermal anchoring, but i'm looking for something a little more specific. after speaking to multiple piercers in the sf bay area, i think my chances of finding anyone in california doing professional microdermals are pretty slim. i was wondering, does anyone know about the gray area in california medical laws that makes it so difficult to get them done here? better yet, any piercers in the bay area that i can talk to?

lastly, i know straight to the point in portland does microdermals, but i have no idea for how much or if there is a wait - it's a pretty reputable shop. does anybody have any info on that?

thanks in advance! :D

Discrimination in the work place

how do each of you handle discrimination in the work place relating to your body art?

so, here's a quick background. I was hired with my 2 piercings in (a 12g septum, which i usually tuck up and a 12g labret stud, no hoops, so they're small) I applied with them in, walked into my interview with them in, started my first day of work with them in and continued to wear them. Up until recently it hadn't been a problem and then all of a sudden my boss starts riding my ass about taking them out. Now, it is written into company policy not to wear them. Now at the same time, my piercings were done with a certain amount of spiritual soul searching so to speak. Finding myself, finding my limits, defining my self as a human and spiritually. I find this policy to be discriminating just as much as treating someone different for their race, religion and sex.

Does anyone else agree or disagree? and why?

My problem now is that I have been suspended from work for it... and suspended at my work basically means fired.

Any comments or suggestions?

Anyone out there with a law background that can advise?

I've done alot of reading lately on the court case that took place against Costco. The court ruled that it would be a " hardship " on Costco to rule in favor of a member of COBM ... and to allow her to keep her eyebrow ring in. Since when is body modification unprofessional ? Technically, you cut your hair, trim your beard, shave your legs, wear makeup ... and all others that apply ... therefore you participate in the act of Body Modification ! These are ALL things that professionals do. Since when do they get to draw the line ? Because I have some piercings in my face ... I can't perform a job any better ?

I'm not about to go into a full on rant ... because here and now really isn't the place. However ... this isn't over. Not at all !

Opinions ? Haters ?

Stretching Nipple Piercings??

Hi, does anyone have suggestions for stretching nipple piercings? I've had mine done for about 4 years and the first couple of stretches went very easily. I currently have 4.5 millimetre rings and would like to go as far as 7mm ones. A local piercer recommended that I try lead weights for a few weeks before the next stretch. I've been doing this for over a year now and sometimes put as much as 60 ounces of lead on each nipple but the holes don't seem to be getting any wider.... I regularly do sea salt soaks and there has been no discharge from them since the last stretch.
A friend on the tribe said that he had stretched his with baby oil and using increasingly larger knitting needles. I don't really fancy going to a shop to buy these so I was hoping that someone could suggest other methods.
Cheers, Billy.

But, how did he know? I've never shown my family my genital piercings. So, that said, who most embarrassed? Him for suggesting it, or my mom who doesn't have a clue? lol

my nipples have been piierced for years but i always had a difficult time enlarging them. Currently removed them to work on enlargement but then want to have both vertically pierced and have small daggers inserted. i have seen these before but have no idea where to find or purchase them. Has anyone else seen this type? What piercings do the tribe members have that continually remind them during the day of their body modifications? What fantasy piercings do others have and why haven't they proceeded to have them done? Are anyone's piercings connected by chain to other body modifications?

Removable nose ring?

Howdy. I have a pierced nostril and I typically wear a hoop. Once a month or so I have to take it out, as I am a reservist in the Navy. This is a real pain, as the hoop is not designed to be removable. I know I could get a post, but that, to me, defeats the purpose. I love my wee ring way too much.

Does anyone have suggestions for removable rings? Maybe something with a marble dealie that comes off? Failing that, does anyone know a custom jewelry maker who would be able to create something that fits the bill?

Thanks so much!

Cheers,

My little nostril got pierced on new years eve and it basically has been mildly infected since then. I do salt soaks once a day, and apply tea tree.
It is slightly red, and a bit of whitish ooze coming out. There is a little bump too....so basically I am debating what to do.

Right now a stainless steel 18g nostril screw is in there. I have 20g 22 k gold nose rings that I have been wanting to put in there. I think my body responds better to gold in general. I dont know what to do. Try the gold, or take it out all together?? :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have 2 lobe piercings in each ear. Recently I stretched one up to a 12. I would like to stretch it to an 8 and stretch the other one to a 12. They are 1/4" away from each other. Will doing 2 at once that close together make it more difficult to stretch them? Should I do them one at a time or does it even matter?

I had a tragus pierced at the beginning of December, at first my hole face swelled up, but thats kinda normal for me, then by the end of january it seemed to have healed nicely.
But...now its all gone bad again, really sore and a little blood.
Is this normal? How long to they normally take to heal?

Also, just a little extra. I though eyebrow piercings migrated, but i have had a barbell in mine now for 9 years. Has anyone heard of this before?

As pierced people we need to remember that IF we have any 'Second Thoughts' about a piercing that we only have a short window in wich to decide to 'keep it' before a permanent hole develops at the site of the piercing.
an example of this was my 'Scrotal Ladder'. A Ladder of six 8ga CBR's running down the length of my Scrotum,it LOOKED awesome! but in a short time, proved to be VERY bothersome, high maintanance and a site for serious bacterial infections. After a third bacterial infection within the first three months I decided to remove all of them and one year later there was no trace of them ever having been there. Unlike my PA,wich Iv'e had for six years wich has created a permanent hole in my frenum. My Septum hole is also permanent, but it's location is invisibly inside my nose.

what's going on with my belly ring?

I've had my belly ring for 4 months now. Aside from sea salt soaks, I couldn't really do anything for the scar tissue. Any time I tried to put scar oils on it, the piercing would act up, so I simply didn't. then recently it had been doing well, so I started putting scar oil on it, and the scar was already starting to get lighter, no problem. That's when something weird happened.

I got a little raised bubble of skin next to the piercing. I stopped using the scar oil, I put a little tea tree oil on it, and it burst - and pus and a little blood came out. Since that bubble formed - well, when I do the sea salt soaks, I used to have some discharge that would need to be cleaned away from the barbell, but now no discharge appears from the piercing at all. Instead, the whole general area around my navel is very itchy, particularly if touched by anything. It doesn't look very red, but I have medium brown skin anyway.

Could this be the sign of something really bad that I need to be doing something different about?

Thanks for your help:-)

i'm thinking about doing the corset peircing although its not a typical guy thing, i'm going to push it a little far. as do i everything.

anyways, i'm looking for advice on multiple peircings, corset peircings and anything else helpful.

of course i dont want to go drastic without learning everything i can. i'm not a peircer nor do i have many pericings. but this idea has been floating in my head for quite some time, i'm ready to get it over with.

its going to be on my ribs, going down to the waist line and following the bladder line.

im leaving a picture of roughly what i want done if anyone can help i'd much appreciate it.

Howdy folks,
I'm/we're about ten weeks into healing of two forskin piercings, at 10 and 2 o'cock lol!!
I'm wearing two barbells that will be way shortened when all the swelling and healing is done.4-6 months.,
Sex was difficult initially , but now we are getting the benefits, one of the reasons for the piercings and placements, was for my partners G spot stimulation, but we've discovered extra mutual stimulation in other positions too. extra girth for her as well.
Roses are so twentieth century dudes, and if you're all intact, it's worth the tender creative change of play through the sore times.

Hello, all! I've just joined this tribe, 'cause I would like to hear some opinions from people more perforated than I.

I had my navel pierced about 12 years ago, and stopped there since I have fairly large breasts, and didn't see any reason to call more attention to them...

I also have very sensitive nipples, and recently I have been reconsidering my decision to not have them pierced. Kinda sounds like fun, now. Maybe I've got it all backwards - I seem to be getting MORE adventurous as the years pass, instead of more conservative.

I don't reallly care about the initial pain factor - I feel like that's part of the experience. Having had my navel pierced, I am also okay with conscientious long-term cleansing during the lengthy healing process. Anyone have some feedback on how long until theirs were fit to be touched? My navel sure took a good goddamn long time.

I'm interested in hearing peoples' 2 cents: were you glad you made the decision to get them pierced? And what kind of jewelry worked out best in terms of not catching on stuff, and not too obvious under clothing?

Hi everyone. Just joining this tribe and wanted to say hey. I live in Portland Oregon and have a small custom tattoo studio. I have been tattooing 9 years and do a wide variety of styles and custom proects. I like to meet for coffee or food first and show my portfolio, get to know one another before we begin working. I am actively involved in fairy, pagan, and native spirituality circles and am available for ritual tattooing.
I also travel the west coast frequently. (other places less so as flying becomes more stressful, expensive, and difficult)
Peace

What is the difference between lightweight and heavyweight navel ring barbells. Obviously heavyweights are heavier and more expensive, but is there personal benefit to one over the other? Thanks!

Does anyone know if a glans corona piercing is possible.
not even sure if it has a name.
This is kinda like a fernum ring pulled up over the glans rim except instead of being outside the glans it would circle the upper corona rim under the skin of the glans and be open below the glans.

Two Piercing Ordeal Rituals this October

This October, the Sacred Mark Sanctuary is offering two piercing ordeal
rituals in the Norse tradition. Join us October 12-15 for Odin’s Ordeal
at Mythical Journeys in Darlington, MD. Or sign up for Piercing the Veil,
a Samhain ritual on October 29 in Frederick, MD.

ODIN’S ORDEAL: A NORSE TRACK
Mythical Journeys, an event of the Free Spirit Alliance
October 12-15, Darlington, MD
http://www.freespiritgathering.org/fallevent/odin.html

The Havamal teaches us that Odin discovered the runes as a form of
communication and divinatory wisdom by suffering the ordeal of hanging
from Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Odin crossed the boundary between the nine
worlds to gain this knowledge. Perhaps you, too, feel the need to undergo
an ordeal experience (crossing the axis mundi) in order to have shamanic
wisdom revealed to you.

Those that choose the path of Odin's Ordeal will be cloistered together,
respecting the way of the Norse by living by some of their rules and
traditions. Piercing, energy pulls, and suspension are all a possible
part of this experience, but they are not the only way through which you
may face your ordeal.

Registration costs increase on September 1st, so REGISTER TODAY for
Mythical Journeys at
http://www.freespiritgathering.org/fallevent/index.html.

PIERCING THE VEIL
October 29, Frederick, MD

During the time of Samhain, the veil between worlds becomes thin, allowing
us to pierce the veil of our waking perceptions, honoring our Ancestors
and the gifts they have given us, and exploring the nine worlds.

Pierce the Veil using ritual body piercing, drumming, and dancing; seek to
perceive beyond your five senses; honor your body, your spirit, and your
connection with those who have walked this path long before. Bring an
open mind and a sense of adventure…and wait for the possibilities to open
to you.

Details and registration information for Piercing the Veil are coming
soon. Keep watching your e-mail or contact Kelly@sacredmarks.com for more
information.

We hope to see you this autumn!

Brightest Blessings,
Sacred Mark Sanctuary

Why Do You Pierce Others?

I don't know if this question/thread has already been posted here. Forgive me if it has; I just joined.

I was originally going to post the question about why people get pierced because I've always wondered (I know what it's about for me but would like to know other people's feelings/views/motivations). But that will be another post.

After reading that there are at least a few people who pierce (what do you call a person who pierces someone else? I'd say a person who gets pierced is a piercer but maybe not), I started wondering: Why do you pierce others? Feelings, motivations, ideology, how you got started, etc. And are there any who just prefer to pierce and have stopped getting pierced themselves?

Thanks!

I have a lip piercing which I've had for about three years. Recently, I met an ayurvedic medicine practitioner who expressed concern over the placement of my piercing, that being the large intestine pressure point. Interesting thing is, for the last 1 1/2 years, I have been experiencing large intestine disorders....'the things that make you go hmmmmmmm'. Anyone else out there with similar concerns / "coincidences" and/or knowledge/comments?

Also, if anyone has a genital piercing (male or female) and has any recommendations for their piercer(s) in Southern California, I'd love to know! And even more importantly, if someone had a bad experience at any SoCal shop, PLEASE let me know.

For a new ear lobe piercing, "they" say that after you remove the piercing stud (after the first 6 weeks), you should keep with a straight stud for full 6 months. I take it to mean you can't put in a cbr after tthe 6 weeks are up?
Anyone have any experience on this claim?

this is something that has intregued me for years. last night was the first lip sewing attempt i've ever made...i should say she's ever made. it was quite spontanious and a part of a larger scene (for those of you who know what i mean;)) it was done with what was on hand; a standard sewing needle and thread. it's something i would like to play with again with a little more planning and knowledge. does anyone have any experience with this? should we be using hollow needles? is there a special kind of thread (surgical thread?) special sterilazation suggestions for thread? how manny times can the same needle pass through flesh before it dulls? any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

Do you ever forget how many piercings you have? People always ask me "Wow, how many piercings do you have?" when they see my ears. Honestly, I can never remember. And they're like "You don't know?"

I feel like I should either start remembering the number or have a snappy comeback!

Piercing jewelry in hospitals

in another topic Jake mentioned

"I was admitted three years ago with "chest Pain" and the first thing they did was remove my 8Guage Septum ring, and my OGuage PA ring. Their reason: "In case we have to shock you with the Paddles"."

My question is why do we get requested to remove piercing jewelry from areas of the body that is nowhere near the paddles such as a PA?

and what if a person has something like genital beading where steel beads are under the skin, they cant be removed so easily 'just in case'...

I will need to have my widsom teeth removed later in the year and would really not like to lose my piercings during the procedure if i can help it.

I'm officially holed twice. Finally got my other ear lob done last night... at the MALL! I don't recommend the mall, but the boring place a live has just one piercer that I know of and he went home already. Anyway, my lob is very bruised from the piercing gun they use.
Nonetheless... Now I'm already planning my next piercing :)

Play Piercing--the BOOK!

So, I'm sure you've noticed that there's some information available on the web and a couple of ebooks. None of it is really comprehensinve, let alone instructional. Well, there's finally a book on the subject!

From the Greenery Press website:

Play piercing -- the temporary insertion of sterile needles just under the surface of the skin -- is acknowledged by many kinky players as one of the surest routes to bliss and transcendence (not to mention erotic excitement).

Here you'll learn the nuts and bolts of safe, responsible play piercing, with lots of information on anatomy, safety and resources for play piercers. And you'll enjoy plenty of steamy real-life anecdotes of piercers, piercees and the very special connection between them.

"A great source of information for the novice player... covers just about everything one should know for safe, sane and erotic needle scenes." -- Fakir Musafar, father of the modern primitive movement

"Skidding neatly along a razor-thin line between titillating risk and raw terror, author and educator Deborah Addington will teach you everything you need to know about the sharp art of play piercing." -- Dossie Easton, co-author, The New Bottoming Book, The New Topping Book, Radical Ecstasy: SM Journeys to Transcendance

"An important and passionate addition to the body of knowledge on t he subject." -- Jay Wiseman, author, SM 101: A Realistic Introduction

If you're interested, drop me a line. For $20.00, you get a signed or inscribed copy, sent to you priority mail.

I'm the author.

With sharp, pointy regards,
Deborah Addington

tragus help

I've had my traguses (tragi?) pierced for several years. They've got wee little (22g?) CBRs in them. I have to remove my jewelry twice a week for school (let's not get into the politics of that - I just want to get through school!). I'm having a really hard time getting the jewelry back in because (a) the ball is wee so the opening between the ends of the CBR is narrower than the cartiage it's got to fit around before I insert it and (b) I have a hard time squeezing the ring tight enough to keep the ball firmly in place. Plus, just getting the ball placed correctly when I can't really see my ear what with all the fingers in the way isn't easy. I don't want to give these piercings up. I know from experience that they'll close up after a few months, and it isn't fun getting them redone. I've got two years of this to deal with.

Any suggestions about different jewelry or tools I can use to get through this? Every time I imagine a bigger ball on such a tiny ring, well, ok, I just can't imagine it. I tried using plastic retainers, and they irritated me when they were in and they got yanked out by my motorcycle helmet all the time. Ouch.

hello... i'm wondering if any of you would mind offering your thoughts and advice about inexperienced piercers. i might be getting my nipples pierced by someone who has never pierced anyone before. he has his nipples pierced, and i trust him to educate himself and do the proper research to ensure as positive an experience as possible. i am nervous though, and i wonder if there aren't concerns i have overlooked. anything i need to consider before i go through with this? thank you.

cheers,
spankee

i apologize for the cross-post... just trying to get as much advice as possible. :)

ok,last night, I went to High Priestess here in Eugene, and my best friend and I both got our hoods done (vertical, sorry no pics yet)The pain lasted about 3 seconds. I didn't swell for about an hour and a half and still not nearly as much or bad as my best friend did, but we both bled, but still not for quite some time after the initial piercing was done. This morning, there is no bleeding, and the swelling has pretty much gone done but the very point of the piercing it's self still feels very tender as one would expect. My piercer (Georg, you rock!)was very cool in all ways and very informative about the what nots of this type of piercing, but he is a guy and it's still hard for a guy to get the real gist of what my ni ni is feeling like. Girls, just how long does this sensation REALLY last and from experinace, what should I expect over the next few weeks? I won't have to worry about TRYING to avoid sexual contact, husband was sent to a rally in indio cali and is gone for two whole weeks.....Thanks!

I just got mine pierced today, vertical barbells. He had to freehand it, because he couldn't get a clamp to hold on to it. It was...interesting. Anybody else (especially you piercers who have seen 10000000000 nipples?) encounter this problem?

It actually ended up being easier than I thought. Basically he had to go deep enough, although there was no real way of telling how far back he had to go, and then come back out on top, initially did it with a 14g needle and then stretched it to 12g to put to the jewelry in. Right now my left side is still sore, but the right one (the first one) is fine. Thankfully I can handle pain.

Hi everyone. I didnt see a thread with this subject...so I was wondering what the average is.

So, what method(s) do you use for cleaning a fresh piercing? Sea salt/water? Dial or another antibacterial soap? Peroxide/alcohol? Or something else?

Ok, so I was dancing really hard and my bottom ball fell out of my apadravya, then I had to do an adult shoot. Well blah blah blah, the whole bar just slips out and I got too scared to put it back because I was afraid I would loose the whole bar. To make a long story short I have decided to not put it back in.

My biggest question is will the lower hole close up? I have been warned when I got it that the skin is so thin that it doesn't really close up agian. Today I was at work and I forgot to plug the bottom hole and I pissed myself. Does anyone have any good ideas to closing the hole on the bottom? thank you

Healing Pains of Removal

Ok... I'm gonna give a little background here before I get into what my question is...

About 8 years ago I was in love with this magnificent woman. She was from Russia and I met her because I worked for her (yeah, she was my boss). Lots to tell about our romance, but I will cut to the chase here.

We were full-on into a passionate relationship when I told her I was interested in getting an ampallange. I felt it would put me in touch with my heritage (south philippines) and be an extra added feature to our lovemaking. She loved the idea until the peircer we went to see told us it would be 3-6 months for healing, during which it was not recommended I have sex.

My gf said "NO WAY!"

So, I didn't have the piercing done. We remaind passionate about each other for another year. Then, I had to deal with what has turned out to be the hardest thing to deal with in my life...

She was murdered.

I don't need to tell the morbid tale. I will just say, in relevance to our topic here, that I was so filled with grief and anguish that I felt I had to do something.

I knew I wasn't going to have sex in a long time during my mourning period and it just seemed appropriate to do it, so, I had the ampallange done.

I was VERY happy with the piercing for all these years. I had decided two weeks ago that I needed to let go of my attachment to my ex-gf (esp. after a dream with her in it where her spirit told me to go on and be happy). I turned removing my ampallange peircing into a symbolic gesture of this letting go.

I wish I would have talked to someone about this...

My dick fucking HURTS!
I didn't know that the healing after taking out this piercing was going to be so difficult. I spoke to a friend who had a PA but had to remove it (prison). He told me that it was going to be about 3 months for this to heal.

I need some help here, folks.
What can I do to ease this ordeal?

Labia

I had my outer labia done just over two weeks ago and a friend had hers done almost seven weeks ago, and we seem to be having similar experiences. I wanted to ask about them here anyway.

So I have one piercing on each side. The holes closer to the center are healing up very nicely and there is almost no puss. The outer holes are a bit oozy and the puss is often green-ish. (Wow this is kinda gross to talk about.) However, under the skin of all four holes there is a hard knot like ball of something. Maybe skin? I don't really like the feeling of it, but I'm hoping it is normal will go away given more healing time. Occasionally I get stabs of pain, which I can only describe as white hot agony that burns up my entire body radiating from my labia. Not a pleasant experience. This can happen when I roll over while sleeping, if I push my legs sharply together while sitting, or during sex.

Does this sound normal/ok?

A good friend of mine is really wanting to get her nipples pierced. I'm all for it, you know...yay. I couldn't do it. Mine are sensitive enough as it is. Although, I have to admit, I might get one if it strikes me to do so.

The problem is that I had a male friend with a bad experience. Something about nerve damage to his nips. And he hated it. I know (lets say) 6 people who had metal in their nips. 3 liked it and 3 hated it.

I don't want to hate it. /IF/ I grew enough testicles to get my man-boobs pierced, I would want to like it for a long time. I'm torn. Any input?

Also, how much money should I be willing to spend?

Alright, this sucks. First, I only have my ears pierced. Nothing fancy. Just left lobe and right cartlidge. And they are just normal hooped...damn...I can't remember the gages. Curses.

Anyway, I can't take them out! I've had them in for about over a year...and never knew how to take them out. It's so embarrassing.

Some people tell me to just pull the hoop apart from the ball. Some tell me to twist the damn thing. I can't get the damn things off. I even took pliers to them a few months ago. Nada.

I know it's sad. Can someone give me any good advice? Please?!

Hi,

I am situated just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia. I cannot for the life of me find someone to inform me on piercing techniques. Have been tattooing for a few years so I am aware of safety procedures and cross contamination prevention.

What I do need is minimum gauge guidelines, and what to look out for anatomy wise. Apprentiship is not an option unfortunately so any help will be appreciated.

Intro & Ceramic Earspools

Hi All- Please see my listing on this page if you are interested in being a product tester for my ceramic earspools.

I am also new to this tribe and would have to say that since '92 I have had a lot of piercings - nipples twice, tounge three times, labret twice, the only ones left in I am NOT going to post photos of=) I also stretched my ears up to 3/4" once and back to 2 ga. Then now back up to 3/4" (can you tell I change my mind a lot;)

I am expert in healing keloids and also various forms of scar tissue as I have sensitive skin. I actually made the brand in the centerpiece of my compass rose tatoo myself.

Please see my website page for more info on the ear spools and why I am starting this business. Also please let me know who your fave piercers are! If they have stretched lobes I want to give them a pair of EarthSpools!

Cheers,
Aryana

tongue troubles

hey there. I've been having issues with my tongue piercing, in that my tongue seems to be somewhat swollen, to varying degrees, the majority of the time. wondering if you folks have some insight on this.

I've had the piercing since 1999, and noticed that since that time my tongue rarely seems completely neutral (meaning pre-piercing non-swollen state). the problem is that when I use a bar long enough to prevent pressure from the balls on the tongue, the bar is actually a bit too long and taps on my teeth. in other words, I can't seem to get the right fit coz the tongue isn't reverting back to it's natural state.

I had asked the piercer about this and he said that when the body is fighting off infection, a result is that the tongue will swell a bit. I have been dealing with a chronic medical issue (unrelated), so it's possible that this is true. but seems weird to have this swelling issue for the majority of the time, for 5 years.

other than the swelling issue, I've had no problems or pain...no icky oozies or infections, no discolorations, etc. and the only pain I get is just the pressure from the balls into the muscle.

I finally just took the jewelry out this summer, with the intention of letting it close up coz i just wasn't enjoying it anymore....mostly as a result of not being able to get in a physically comfortable place with it. but have been missing it, so I just reopened it last night. (see album: http://newyork.tribe.net/template/pub%2CViewPhoto.vm/context/pcard?albumpage=%24albumPage&currentoffset=3&parentid=76f0d4fd-d3e1-4f50-9b8e-07afe015eaaa&sortby&r=10352 )

I had surprisingly little difficulty opening it back up...almost no pain and only the smallest amount of blood. I basically just took a t-shaped bar and continually wiggled it from both ends until I got through. I rinsed my mouth with listerine beforehand, soaked the jewelry in listerine, rinsed my mouth with water when I was done, and finally used glycol last night and this morning. so I think I've kept good care to avoid irritating it or infecting it.

but once again, it's swelling much more than it should. not enough to impede speech, but enough that I have to use the longest bar to keep the pressure off.
I've been worried that maybe it just wasn't pierced right in the first place, but I went to good place.

any suggestions? thoughts?

Piercing Guages Described??

Hi, I'm new to this tribe. I'm originally from the U.S., but have been in Taiwan since Moses was a boy. I've had a few piercings done here, two lobes and one nipple. I've read quite a bit about guages and stretching (not trying to get 'em too big, just larger than they were). I've got them (with the exception of the upper lobe piercing, would do cartelege and another lobe, but I own an English school and if too much shows, the customers get scared away....tattoos will also have to all be coverable) to the size I want and am thinking about ordering some rings from the U.S. (its really hit and miss here what you can find). Does anyone know of a way to figure out guages based on rough diameter measurements?

That reminds me of something I've been wondering, the nipple took nearly a year to heal, and is still tender in the center when changing the ring, is this normal? When my favorite guage is in, there is absolutely NO pain, but if I put in a smaller guage for a while, it can become painful after a few days (the piercing is a bit goofy, enters in the arolea and exits on the side of the nipple, the piercer sort of missed, still looking for someone to do the other one)

Cartilage Piercing Still Sore

I got my cartilage pierced on my left ear in August...and its STILL quite sore. If it gets bumped, pressed, rubbed or otherwise touched it still hurts quite a bit. I can't sleep on my left side normally either. I know that cartilage piercings can take a while to heal, but shouldn't it be less sore by now?

Any suggestions about how to make it better perhaps? My other two piercings were fine after about 2 weeks (labret and tongue). This pain is getting really old....
