i'm having trouble with my tragus piercing. done 3 months ago and still swollen and sore. hard to soak in salt water without getting a neck kink, so needless to say, my aftercare has been lacking. any suggestions or similar experiences??

you dont need to necessarily soak... you can just get a clean towel and hold it to your ear.... works better for me than dipping the side of your head into a warm bowl of salt water....

are you a side sleeper? talk on the phone with the side your pierced on? I know its extremley hard for me to heal cartilage piercings due to the fact that I"m a total side sleeper

Is the jewellery too tight? What material is the jewellery made from?Maybe your allergic.
As for cleaning just soak some sterile gauze in the salt water solution and hold onto the piercing for 3 - 5 minutes, preferable a warm solution to help the blood circulate which will help healing.

As a piercer I agree with the sat water soak in whatever method works best for comfort.

        Spud has a great suggestion.

I had a zillion problems with my tragus, but the thing is finally healed up. I used this stuff called Saline Wound Wash that comes in a can, and would douse a kleenex in and plug it into and around my ear. Also cleaning once and no more a day helped it along.

It's been fine for several months now, but I think my left ear has problems with piercing--the stuff on my right ear's been fine, but my daith on my left ear gave my the same trouble my tragus did.

Mine has been pierced for about 9 months and still bothers me every once in a while. I got my cartilage piercing done the same day and it has been healed for months. Two piercers have told me it often takes over a year to heal...

Did the piercer bother to check the placement with a flashlight? If not they may have hit a vein. Also, was the piercing done properly in a shop, or did you get it done with a gun? Guns split the cartilage which impedes healing as well. If the placement was checked, and it was done properly in a shop, but you have a captive bead ring in you may want to try having the jewelry changed to a short barbell of the same gauge. That can often help if it's a simple case of the jewelry getting knocked around. Good luck.
